LDK Parenting Foundation, Inc. is a tax-exempt 501c3 nonprofit. It was founded on June 25, 2024 by Barbara Bennett, with the goal of providing quality after school programs for children, not only for the children’s sake, but to assist working parents with the stresses of parenting. LDK Parenting Foundation, Inc.promotes relaxation by supplying parents with the knowledge that their children are safe and are being well cared for. This includes transportation to after school programs, homework help, healthy snacks, and supervised activities for elementary aged children.
LDK Parenting Foundation, Inc. started out as transportation assistance for working parents, so that their children might attend martial arts classes, but has since grown into an after school program, using two busses to pick up from five local schools, and providing services for as many as 30 young people. Up until now, this business has been operated out of a for-profit company (Lion’s Den Karate, LLC) but would like to be able to offer services for children who may not be able to afford the program. As it grows, we plan to implement volunteer programs to assist students with homework help, educational activities, and summer camps. We have primarily worked with Black Belt teenagers in our community but would also like to include student teachers, and retired individuals to spend time with the children.
