For example, you make your bed because you slept in it. You put your dishes in the sink\/dishwasher because you ate. You walk the dog, because you wanted one. These are chores. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My children were not paid to do them, but were expected to do these things<br>or there would be consequences.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes, the kids wanted to earn money. This is where the jobs come in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As they got older, they could wash the car, mow the lawn, pull weeds. These were things that I wanted done and was willing to pay for. I was very upfront about my expectations and what I was offering. We needed to agree to that first. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jobs are always optional. They<br> have their own consequences. If you don\u2019t do them, you don\u2019t get paid.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s up to you determine what is a job and what is a chore, and how you will handle payments and consequences for each of those in your family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chores versus jobs.
